The Hot Springs Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (HSA-MPO) is the official Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Hot Springs area. Each area of more than 50,000 persons must have a designated MPO to coordinate transportation planning and funding on a regional level. The MPO is responsible for planning and developing a safe, efficient and affordable transportation system for the region.
HSA-MPO was formed in 2003 to develop a comprehensive long-range transportation plan for the Hot Springs area. The area served by the HSA-MPO includes Hot Springs, Mountain Pine, Hot Spring County, Garland County and Hot Springs Village.
Notice of Transportation Improvement Program Amendment
The amended 2007-2010 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is available for public review and comments from 8/13/09 until 8/27/09. The TIP was amended to include funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of $1,549,000 for safety improvements to Hwy 5 from the Hwy 5 and Hwy 7 intersection to Hot Springs Village. The document will be located at the Hot Springs Area Metropolitan Planning Organization Office at 100 Broadway Terrace from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
