A&P Commission opening

HOT SPRINGS -- Applications for an opening on the Hot Springs Advertising and Promotion Commission are being accepted until September 15, 2014. The position is available to an applicant who meets the following qualifications: a qualified elector in the City of Hot Springs and the owner or manager of a hotel, restaurant or tourism business located within the city limits. The position is a four-year term.

The seven-member commission administers the collection and expenditure of the city's 3% tax on prepared food and lodging for the purpose of promoting Hot Springs. The commission also oversees operation of the Convention Center and the Hot Springs Mountain Tower. All positions on the commission are volunteer and unpaid. Meetings are generally held the last Monday of each month.

Applications are available by contacting Leysa Lowery at the Hot Springs Convention Center, 134 Convention Boulevard, 321-2027, ext. 6123, or via e-mail, leysa@hotsprings.org. Deadline for completed applications is noon, September 15, 2014. Read on...

Donate your old charging cables and accessories

Got a bunch of old charging cables, chargers and accessories lying around? Don't throw them away...donate your phone, tablet, laptop and camera charging accessories to the police department and help us return recovered electronics to their owners. Without a charge we have no idea who the owner is so any brand, any model, any age charging accessories are appreciated. Put those old cables to good use and help your community. We don't need your old phone, only the chargers, and if we can't use the one you donate we will re-donate it or safely dispose of it for you.
