The Parks Department is responsible for the care, maintenance, development, and promotion of: 17 city parks totaling 160 acres, the downtown historic district, 30 acres of landscaped parkway, 8 miles hiking and biking trails, and the city's annual holiday lighting displays. Cooperative programs include coordination of volunteer activities and projects, participation/partnerships with other community service providers and grant preparation/administration.
