Founded in 1995, the Historic Downtown Farmers’ Market operates Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings from 6 a.m. until produce runs out at the Transportation Plaza near Orange Street. Plenty of free parking is available adjacent to the market. The City of Hot Springs provides market space and promotional services for the market, where customers form relationships with the farmers and have the opportunity to buy fresh, local produce directly from the grower, along with herbs, flowers and quality, locally handcrafted items. The market season runs from mid-May until the end of October.
The market participates in the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program, where WIC mothers are given vouchers to buy fresh produce for their children. The program is administered by the Arkansas Department of Health, and is beneficial both to the participating families and to the farmers.
New vendors and backyard farmers are always welcome at the market, and as a special incentive, space rental for any new vendor is waived for the first full week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday).
The Farmers’ Market holds special events like the "Music at the Market" concert series and special “Shop with the Chef” events. Thanks to overwhelming community support, the market is enjoying record numbers of vendors and customers.
