Mayors Youth Council application - PDF
“What Do YOU stand for?” is the question we asked each MYC member to answer. Leadership, Community Service, Diversity and Government Involvement are the pillars of Hot Springs Mayor’s Youth Council. Through service projects, leadership, and a voice in local government, the MYC offers the youth of our city and surrounding areas a unique opportunity to be a vital part of our community. We are not an elite or closed group. You become a member by attending meetings and service projects. Any and all Hot Springs area students in grades 9-12 are invited to participate.
Applications will be available in mid-August and at area high schools. Membership meeting will be held in early September.. This year’s MYC calendar includes meetings with the Hot Springs City Manager and Board of Directors as well as attendance opportunities for Agenda Meetings with City Officials and Department Heads. Service events include the Recovery Walk on 9/20, Halloween Extravaganza with the Garland County Library on October 23rd, & Art Blast on 11/29. A group service project focused on a need in our community will be selected by the MYC members in October. Students must be able to attend 75% of all meetings and service events in order to remain a member in good standing.
If you want to make a difference and want your voice to be heard, join the Mayor’s Youth Council and get involved. We hope to see you there!
For more information, interested students/parents are invited to call Bea Arline, Mayor’s Youth Council Sponsor and City Liaison.
