HSPD to participate in Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over
Hot Springs police along with other state and local law enforcement agencies will participate in the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization effort sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The annual enforcement campaign designed to reduce the incidents of drunk driving on city streets, county roads and state highways will begin August 17 and continue through September 3. During the 17-day operation Arkansas law enforcement officers will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols to identify and arrest intoxicated drivers.
If you choose to drink and drive, you stand the chance of losing your driver’s license and current employment, incurring court costs and possible imprisonment.
Here are some simple tips for drivers:
• If you plan on drinking alcohol with friends, designate a sober driver before going out.
• If you are impaired, do not drive. Call a taxi or call a sober friend or family member.
• Report any impaired driver you see on the roadways to law enforcement.
• Wear your seatbelt; it`s your defense against an impaired driver.
The Hot Springs Police Department wants all citizens to enjoy the Labor Day weekend. So remember, don’t drink and drive.
