Area families are invited to dress in overalls and bring the cameras, kids and grandkids to “A Day at the Farm,” an old-fashioned harvest festival with entertaining and educational activities for all ages. Hosted by the Friends of the Farmers’ Market, the event will be held from 8 to noon on Saturday, October 27 at the Historic Downtown Farmers’ Market in the Transportation Plaza at Orange Street. Most activities will be free of charge.
A “pumpkin patch” photo backdrop with fall crops and hay bales will be provided. Amateur photographers can bring their entries for a farm photo contest involving photos of farm produce, farm landscapes and farm animals. The event will also include live music, a farm animal petting zoo, old-fashioned children’s games, contests and refreshments, face painting, story telling, a fall plant sale, and craft demonstrations. Quality handmade crafts will be sold, along with a variety of fresh produce from local farmers.
The event celebrates the last day of the 2007 farmers’ market season. For more information on “A Day at the Farm,” call 282-1418.
