Groups, businesses and organizations are reminded to submit their entries for the 2007 Christmas parade before 5 p.m. on Friday, November 16. The parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 in downtown Hot Springs. The rain date is Monday, December 10 at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s theme is “An Arkansas Christmas.” Entry forms are available in the online Document Center on the City of Hot Springs’ Web site, www.cityhs.net. The forms can be mailed or faxed to parade organizer Kathy Rose, West Shores Senior Living Community, 2607 Albert Pike Road, Hot Springs, AR 71913, fax 767-2083, e-mail wsmarketing@cablelynx.com.
One representative for each parade entry must attend a mandatory meeting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 2 in the Transportation Depot, 100 Broadway Terrace. Since the Christmas Parade serves as a food drive for Samaritan Ministries Rescue Mission, all entrants must either bring non-perishable food items or an entry fee to the meeting in order to participate in the parade.
Groups including floats, bands, marching and walking groups, horses, color guards, bicyclists and others are encouraged to plan early for a quality parade entry. Volunteers are needed to help pace the parade evenly throughout the route. No vendors will be allowed during the parade.
The parade is co-sponsored by the Oaklawn Rotary Club, City of Hot Springs, U.S. Stations, Summit Bank, Mid-America Productions, 489th Engineers Battalion, Byron Cole Rhodes Family Foundation, the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record and ABC Clock Company. For more information, contact Kathy Rose, 767-1200.
