Beginning Saturday, November 17, viewing and appreciating original artworks by local artists from the Traditional Art Guild will be an additional reason to visit Hot Springs Memorial Field.
An exhibit featuring works by Nina Louton, Traditional Art Guild president, will be on month-long display beginning with a catered reception from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 17 in the airport terminal building. The public is welcome to attend. The event kicks off a year-long schedule of rotating exhibits, with an opening reception on the third Saturday of each month.
“Launching monthly art exhibits at the airport fits well with our philosophy of continually changing and renewing this facility,” said Airport Director George Downie. “The airport should reflect the community, and our city is strongly arts-oriented. We feel that adding local artworks will not only enhance the terminal building, but also heighten the public’s awareness of the impact of the arts in Hot Springs.”
The exhibit calendar is already booked through next August, with commitments from the following artists: Louton, November; Kathryn Curry, December; Margaret Crisp, January; Beth Boone, February; Vernon Davis, March; Mary Lemons, April; Bruce Cook, May; Sydne Smith and Nan Merchant, June; Johnce Parrish, July; and Linda Shearer, August.
For more information on the airport exhibit, contact Louton at 622-3100.
