BOIL ORDER IN EFFECT FOR SOUTH MALVERN AVENUE AREA

Due to a water system failure, a boil order is now in effect for Hot Springs Municipal Utilities customers area the area south and east of Buddy Bean Lumber on Malvern Avenue and outlying areas. The boil order is a precautionary measure only, and is expected to be in effect for approximately two days, or after two water samples taken on consecutive days pass inspection by the Arkansas Health Department. Once water service is restored to affected homes, residents are advised to boil all drinking and cooking water for approximately one full minute before use. System failure was caused by a break in the 12-inch water main that serves approximately 200-300 area households. Notification of the lifting of the boil order will also take place through the local news media. If customers experience problems after water service is restored, they can contact the Hot Springs Utilities Service Center, 623-7473; Hot Springs Utilities Administration, 321-6999; and after hours, the Hot Springs Lakeside Water Plant, 623-5621. “The public’s cooperation is appreciated for the duration of the boil order,” said Public Works/Utilities Director Steve Mallett. “Our crews are working diligently to restore service as quickly as possible.”
