Citizens desiring to travel to Hot Springs’ sister city, Hanamaki, Japan this fall are asked to contact Sister City Coordinator Bill Solleder, 282-9056, bill@valleyofthevapors.com, no later than May 15. At this time, the City of Hot Springs is gauging the level of citizen interest for such a trip, and no definite arrangements have been made.
Travel would occur in September or October 2008 and involve 8 to 9 days, including two full days of transportation. In recent years, travel has centered around the Hanamaki Festival, which occurs from September 12 – 14 this year. Past itineraries have also included visits to area temples, museums and the government center. All trip expenses will be borne by the traveler.
