AIRPORT HOSTS MONTHLY ART EXHIBIT

The public is invited to an opening reception featuring the works of Traditional Art Guild member Mary Lemons from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 in the terminal building at Hot Springs Memorial Field, 525 Airport Road. The collection will remain on display until August 10. Lemons, a Connecticut native, and her Arkansas native husband retired in 1981, making their home on Lake Hamilton. She began painting in oil 20 years ago. She presently attends art classes with Thad Flenniken, instructor at National Park Community College. Lemons paints landscapes, water scenes, and old barns, primarily in the oil medium. She has also begun doing abstract and representational paintings. Lemons says, “I love using bold colors and various shapes, coupled with the challenge of doing something different. Painting is relaxing for me. Completing a painting gives me a great feeling of accomplishment.” Lemons is a member of the Traditional Art Guild and the Artists Workshop Gallery. Her works may be viewed regularly at the Artists Workshop Gallery at 810 Central Avenue in downtown Hot Springs. The airport is partnering with the Traditional Art Guild to offer a year-long schedule of rotating exhibits, with an opening reception on the third Saturday of each month. For more information on the airport exhibit, contact Nina Louton, Traditional Art Guild president, 622-3100.
