CITY ISSUES BOIL ORDER

The City of Hot Springs, in conjunction with the Arkansas Division of Health, has issued a precautionary boil order notice for a portion of the Hot Springs area bounded by Park and Whittington avenues on the east; Albert Pike on the south; and the east end of Wood Street on the west.
The order was issued as a precautionary measure due to an electrical malfunction on the power pole serving the Music Mountain Pump Station, resulting in a partial loss of system pressure.   The electrical malfunction was related to the recent severe weather occurring throughout the community during the last few days.
Under the boil order notice, all affected customers are advised that the water may be unsafe for human consumption.  Therefore, water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one (1) minute prior to use.  All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.
The notice will be lifted by the Division of Health when representative bacteriological samples indicate that the water is free of bacterial contamination, and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
Water service has now been restored throughout the Hot Springs water system; however, some areas are still experiencing low water pressure.  The system is expected to return to full operational capacity sometime today.  Customers with questions can call 321-6861.
