The Hot Springs Sanitation Department has extended its post-storm CAPS (Clean, Attractive Property Service) pickup deadline until Friday, October 3 to assist residents needing help with disposal of debris in the wake of Tropical Storm Ike last weekend. CAPS service involves knuckleboom truck pickup by appointment of large, heavy or bulky items. Brush collected by CAPS must be cut 6 feet in length or less. To make an appointment for CAPS pickup, please call 321-6921 or 321-6911. Hot Springs Public Works has also extended its offer of firewood free of charge to those who cut it at their own risk, located on two city-owned lots on Leawood Street, one block north of Hollywood Avenue. The firewood is a byproduct of the Street Division’s tree removal efforts after two weeks of stormy weather. The wood will be made available through Sunday, September 28.
