NEW COORDINATOR SELECTED FOR HOT SPRINGS’ SISTER CITY PROGRAM

Mary Neilson was recently selected as Sister City Program Coordinator for the City of Hot Springs, according to Public Information Officer Terry Payne. As coordinator, she will inform citizens about the purpose, ideals and benefits of the Sister City Program; engage local schools, clubs and organizations and the general public in the program through organized activities; and oversee delegation visits to and from Hanamaki, Japan, Hot Springs’ sister city. She will also work closely with the Hot Springs National Park Sister City Foundation to help promote and support their activities, including the foundation’s highly successful teacher scholarship program that enables local teachers to travel to Hanamaki each summer. Neilson, a native of Hartman, has a background in marketing, advertising, management and sales. A magna cum laude graduate of the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, she holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in business administration. Neilson and her husband Robert live in Hot Springs Village. They have two children, Belle and Robert Lewis. To volunteer with the Sister City Program or to request a presentation to a local organization, contact Neilson at 545-6960 or hotspringssistercity@yahoo.com.
