Featuring full-color pages, hotlinks to related information and a striking all-new design, the Spring 2010 issue of “City in Progress” arrives today at virtual inboxes throughout Hot Springs and beyond.
Originally mailed to city households, then inserted into municipal utility bills, the citywide newsletter is now a citywide e-magazine. Residents are encouraged to e-subscribe today with a few clicks on the city’s e-subscriptions page, www.cityhs.net/services.html. E-subscribers are notified each time a new issue is launched with an email containing a hotlink to the publication. An e-subscription must be in place to receive the e-magazine. Those already e-subscribed will receive automatic notice of the new issue.
“When the cost of citywide newsletter printing and insertion was not included in the 2010 budget, our department saw this as an exciting opportunity rather than a loss,” noted Public Information Director Terry Payne. “With an electronic publication, we’re no longer limited to 2-color, a set number of pages or other printing constraints. We can include hotlinks in an article that will lead the reader to additional information. It’s another way the City of Hot Springs is leading our community in environmentally-friendly practices by reducing paper consumption and saving trees. Even non-residents wanting to stay in touch with our community can e-subscribe from anywhere around the world. And the change will save taxpayers more than $12,000 annually.”
The new issue, designed by Public Information Assistant Jeff Fields, contains articles on the city’s comprehensive plan update; newly-completed Hollywood Trail; Intracity Transit’s bike-n-ride program; Public Safety Task Force activities; and much more. For more information, contact Fields, 321-6831.
