Stormwater drains can lead to street flooding
The Street Division has been concentrating on sweeping and vacuuming stormwater drains that have become plugged with leaves and debris, because obstructed drains can lead to localized flooding. Please call 321-6861 or 321-6778 to report a clogged stormwater drain. All reports will receive a prompt response. City streets are swept on a daily basis; however, some drains could become plugged before the street sweeper makes it back to the street again.
Light changes to help traffic flow on Malvern
The traffic signal at Malvern Avenue and Spring Street will be placed in “flash” mode Monday and three-way stop signs will be installed in an effort to improve traffic flow through the intersection.
The changes will be in place for a two-week trial period, but could become permanent if comments are favorable.
Stop signs will be installed at the corners of Spring and Malvern for east and westbound traffic, as well as at the exit from Hill Wheatley Plaza.
Comments regarding the changes and traffic flows can be made by calling Terry Phillips, 321-6778.
Employees will begin installing the stop signs around 8 a.m. Monday, Janaury 25, and all changes should be complete by noon.
Intersection work begins Monday, January 25 on Lakeside Road
Work will begin Monday to widen Lakeside Road at the Malvern Avenue intersection. Both lanes of the road will be closed during the day Monday and Tuesday as crews begin cutting trees from the right of way and beginning Monday, Feb. 1, it will be closed for a period of about two weeks, depending on weather, in order to install designated left and right turn lanes. Motorists can avoid the area by using Oakcrest, Valleyview and Bellaire Drive, and signs will be posted until the work is completed.
Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through project areas. |
