Earth Angel Recycling Program

The City’s curbside recycling program is the Earth Angel Recycling Program. A progressive recycling program is the best way to deal with over-burdened landfills, protect the environment, and reduce costs. By taking part in the Earth Angel Recycling Program, you have the opportunity to help ensure a healthy future for your community.

Collection Materials

The “Earth Angel” truck collects the following materials:
  • Aluminum cans
  • Brown paper grocery bags
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Plastic grades #1 and #2
  • Newsprint
  • Telephone books
  • Leaves, grass, and small brush
The city will furnish the container and a calendar of scheduled collection days. The container should be placed curbside prior to 6 a.m. for pickup.

Aluminum Cans

Please rinse beverage cans. No tin cans, foil, siding, or pie pans are accepted. Hint: If in doubt, use a refrigerator magnet. If the magnet sticks, it is not aluminum.

Brown Paper Bags

Only brown paper grocery bags are accepted for pickup. No white or colored bags will be accepted.

Corrugated Cardboard

Only corrugated cardboard (a wavy layer between two flat layers) is accepted for pickup. No pasteboard, such as cereal boxes and shoe boxes will be accepted. Flatten boxes and place either inside recycling container or underneath it. Labels, tape, and staples do not have to be removed.

Plastic Grades #1 and #2

Plastic bottles and containers that are either grade #1 or #2.  Look for the chasing arrows emblem on any plastic container, if it has a 1 or 2 it is acceptable.

Newsprint

Newsprint must be dry, clean, and unsoiled on collection day. Hint: If it comes in the newspaper, it can be recycled with the newspaper.

Telephone Books

No junk mail or magazines will be accepted.

Leaves, Grass & Small Brush

Leaves, grass, and small brush must be in plastic bags and placed curbside by 6 a.m. Small shrub trimmings no longer than 3 feet or 6 inches in diameter should be bundled. The bundles should be placed curbside. Pickup days will be the same as recyclables.

Please do not set out bags and bundles more than 12 hours prior to collection. No other items may be mixed in, i.e., household waste, rocks, or dirt. If they are, the bag cannot be collected for recycling. Residents are allowed 50 bags of leaf and mulch per collection day. This service is intended for residential customers, and should not be used to subsidize any lawn services.
