Field Operations Bureau

The Field Operations Bureau includes Patrol, Special Operations, Traffic Enforcement, Vehicle Accident Investigations (collision and hit-and-run), Motorcycle Officers, and the K9 Unit. Normal patrol functions are carried out by four platoons of officers operating on twelve-hour shift rotations for twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week coverage.

Special Operations, another major subsection of the Field Operations Bureau, oversees SWAT,  coordination of special events, risk assessment planning, fleet management, off-duty employment and public K9 functions. Traffic Enforcement and Motorcycle Officers enforce traffic regulations; investigate and reconstruct major vehicle accidents, conduct DWI enforcement and participate in the "Click-It or Ticket" safety belt program.

Our Traffic Enforcement and Motorcycle Officers work eight-hour shifts, with the K9 Officers working ten hour-shifts. Officers patrol within the city limits of Hot Springs, responding to citizens’ calls for service and conducting proactive community policing activities.
