National Night Out

National Night Out is a community building campaign in conjunction with the National Night Out initiative. It is designed to: (1) heighten crime prevention awareness, (2) generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs, (3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

As National Project Coordinator Matt Peskin explained it, “This is a night for America to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight for a safer nation. On National Night Out, we invite neighborhoods nationwide to join us and “give crime a going away party”.

Put your best social media skills to use right now and start building interest in your neighborhood's National Night Out event. Will your area be the one that has the most massive turn out? That all depends on you. If you really want to go all out, you can register your neighborhood with NATW's National Awards Program and possibly win the coveted National Night Out State Cup (or one of the other 12 awards honoring NNO efforts).
