Advisory Boards, Commissions and Committees

The current openings for the BCC are as followed:

  • Planning Commission. Five Openings
  •  Openings include:
    1. One position for a resident from District 3 (City Director Marcia Dobbs-Smith’s district)
    2. One position for a resident from District 5 (City Director Karen Garcia’s district)
    3. One position for a resident from District 6 (City Director Steve Trusty’s district)
    4. One position for a resident of Garland County (must reside within the planning jurisdiction)
    5. One alternate position for resident inside the city limits
  • Civil Service Commission. One Opening for City Resident
  • Community Development Advisory Committee. Three Openings 
    • One position for a resident from District 1 (City Director Erin Holliday's district)
    • Two positions for a resident At-Large
  • Parks and Trails Advisory Committee. Three Openings for City Residents 
  • Historic District Commission Two Openings 
    • Position 4 is to be an owner of real property or a business owner, or officer or stockholder of said property or business within the Pleasant Street Historic District
    • One Position 5 must be an architect
  • Board of Adjustments & Appeals/Board of Zoning Adjustment. Three Openings for City Residents 
  • Transportation Advisory Committee. Three Openings for City Residents 
  • Urban Forestry Committee. Three Openings for City Residents
  • Animal Control Advisory Committee. Five Openings for City Residents
  • Airport Advisory Committee. Three Openings for City Residents 
  • Arts Advisory Committee. One Opening for City Resident

How do I apply and when do individuals start on the BCC?

Applicants must be registered voters of the City of Hot Springs, unless otherwise specified. Board and commission members are appointed by the Board of Directors and meet in the Board Chambers at City Hall, 133 Convention Boulevard, unless otherwise specified.
