The Garland County Red Cross, in partnership with the Hot Springs Fire Department, will install smoke alarms free of charge to residents of Hot Springs and Garland County during the next two weekends in March. Area residents without working smoke alarms can call 623-9321 to make an appointment for smoke alarm installation on one of the following dates: March 4 or 11, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.; or March 5 or 12, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
According to the Red Cross, having a working smoke alarm reduces the risk of home fire death by 50%, and the average escape time from a fire is only two minutes. The program is part of Red Cross’ Home Fire Preparedness Campaign.
