HOT SPRINGS – A new educational video on the city’s wastewater system is now available on the City of Hot Springs’ YouTube channel. Entitled “Hot Springs Wastewater: From CAO to Cutting Edge,” the 11-minute video describes the workings of the system; the Consent Administrative Order (CAO) issued in 2008 by the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), mandating system improvements; the city’s resulting 10-year improvement plan; and the cutting-edge technology used in making improvements that were not only successful but innovative, bringing industry-wide attention to Hot Springs.
“This video gives ratepayers a detailed progress report, as we reach the halfway point in our 10-year improvement plan for the city’s wastewater system,” said City Manager David Watkins. “It also includes plans for additional projects over the next five years. We’ve made giant strides in wastewater management in recent years, and we’ll continue this path in the future.”
The video can be accessed from the city’s home page, www.cityhs.net, by selecting the YouTube icon at the top of the page and choosing the Miscellaneous category.* DVD copies are also available. Local schools and organizations desiring a city speaker to accompany the video and answer questions can contact the Hot Springs Public Information Department, 321-6806 or tpayne@cityhs.net . The video will also air throughout next week on city12, the city’s government access channel on Resort Television Cable.
