In light of possible cuts in the proposed federal budget to Essential Air Service subsidies for cities, the following statement has been issued by Airport Director Glen Barentine of Hot Springs Memorial Field (HOT).
“Airline service is vital at the state and local levels by providing funding for public services and continued economic development. Air service encourages businesses to expand outside urban centers and gives residents quick access to larger airline hubs. Essential Airline Service is plays a critical role in the continued growth of a city/community and provides the funding that attracts a significant private investment. EAS airports play an important role in our local economy and give citizens better access to the global marketplace. Communities with air service have a powerful tool to attract and retain businesses.”
