Hot Springs -- "Green"-minded residents can participate in either cleanup or landscaping activities during the Great American Cleanup from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5. This is part of the Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup, and offers volunteer opportunities for the whole family.
Volunteer check-in stations include the Transportation Depot, 100 Broadway Terrace and the Rotary Trailhead adjacent to Hollywood Park at the intersection of Hollywood Avenue and Shady Grove Road. The event is co-sponsored by the Hot Springs/Garland County Beautification Commission, Friends of the Parks, National Park Rotary Club, the Diamond Lakes Master Naturalists and the Hot Springs Parks & Recreation Department.
Volunteers are needed to collect litter from the creek, creek edge, paths and roadside, and should bring waders, nets and other water equipment if possible. Bags and gloves will be provided, along with free donuts, coffee and water.
The Great American Cleanup is the country’s largest community improvement program that harnesses the power of millions of volunteers to build and sustain vibrant communities. This exciting program takes place annually in communities from coast to coast with a spike of activity during the spring months. For details, visit cityhs.net or call 501-321-6871.
