The inside lanes of Central Avenue, blocks 100-300, will be closed from 3-6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept.
26, 2019, for removal of the hanging flower baskets.
Motorists should use caution while traveling in the area. Orange traffic cones and safety lighting will be utilized.
Each year at the end of September, the hanging baskets are taken down for the season by the City of Hot Springs Parks & Trails Department. The baskets are completely rebuilt with new moss and soil every two years, and new petunias are used each year. Next spring, the Garland County Master Gardeners will assist in constructing the new baskets before they are put back up in late April or the beginning of May.
Along with the theme of the changing seasons, Parks & Trails crews began earlier this month checking the holiday light displays in storage, and this week started putting up decorations with trees being wrapped and lighted spheres installed at Hill Wheatley Plaza.
