HOT SPRINGS – Hot Springs Sport Recreation is accepting registration until 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 for four weeks of Chicago 16” softball play at Whittington City Park, 1201 Whittington Avenue. The park has 210-foot fences and 65’ base paths.
The game involves softball with nine-player teams, no gloves, and unlimited home runs. Play is open to both males and females. Players may use any bats. Balls will be supplied, and bats will also be available. Games will take place on Sunday afternoons from April 13 until May 11, with no games on Easter Sunday.
“It’s a great way to knock off the winter rust and play the most equalizing form of softball that exists,” said Nathan Neighbors, Sport Recreation Director. “This league will be finished before Kimery Park’s infields are completed.”
The entry fee per team is $225, with registration on a first-come, first-served basis. A free agent team will be formed if needed. Individual signups, at $40 apiece, includes a uniform. Prize packages will be contingent on team numbers. For information or to register, contact Neighbors at 321-6946, 318-0472 or neighborsn@cityhs.net .
