City seeks applicants for five advisory committee and commission positions

The City of Hot Springs is accepting applications until noon on Tuesday, Oct. 4, for a total of five volunteer positions on a City advisory committee and commission.

The openings include the following:

  • Three openings for city residents on the Arts Advisory Committee. This seven-person group reviews and recommends placement of permanent art and temporary exhibits, as well as secures funding for such displays. Members serve a term of two years. Meetings are held at noon on the second Tuesday of the month at the Parks and Trails Office, 111 Opera Street.
  • Two openings on the Planning Commission. This group, which has nine members and three alternates, reviews all land development proposals within the city – including all subdivisions, rezone requests, conditional uses and large-scale or multiple building developments – to ensure compliance with the Zoning and Subdivision Codes. Members serve a term of three years. Meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month in the City Hall Board Chambers, 133 Convention Boulevard.
     Openings include:
    • One position for a resident from District 3 (City Director Marcia Dobbs-Smith’s district)
    • One position for a resident of Garland County (must reside within the planning jurisdiction)

Applicants must be registered voters of the City of Hot Springs, unless otherwise specified. Board and committee members are appointed by the Board of Directors. The Board will interview all applicants on Tuesday, Oct. 11, following its regularly-scheduled agenda meeting at 4 p.m. in the Board Chambers at City Hall, 133 Convention Boulevard.
