The Veterans Day Celebration Committee will host a slate of activities in observance of Veterans Day, beginning on Friday, November 7 with a free dinner and dance for veterans and guests at the Elk Lodge, 132 Abbott Place. Dinner will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the dance from 7 to 10 p.m.
From noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, a USO-type show will be held near the J.C. Penney’s store inside the Hot Springs Mall, 4501 Central Avenue in Hot Springs. The show will be emceed by US Stations radio personality Dick Antoine.
At 7 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, a flag run will proceed from the Dodge Store on East Grand and proceed to Little Rock, returning to the Transportation Depot by 11 a.m. Motorcycle enthusiasts, car riders, veterans and non-veterans are encouraged to participate.
At 11 a.m. on Tuesday, a Veterans Day ceremony will be held at the Garland County Veterans Memorial in the Transportation Plaza at Orange Street. The day concludes with a downtown parade beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the junction of Whittington, Park and Central avenues, proceeding south on Central Avenue and ending at Olive Street.
