HOT SPRINGS – Oaklawn Rotary announced today the winners of last night’s Christmas Parade:
First Place—Park Place Baptist Church
Second Place—Christian Ministries Church
Most Creative Entry—National Park Community College
Best Use of Theme—Magic Springs Water and Theme Park
Best Choreography—Lake Hamilton Band
Best Special Effects—Fountain Lake School Cheer and Dance Squads
Best Creative Non-float—Paws and Claws Rescue
Byrno Cole Rhodes Foundation Award – Lake Hamilton Band
“The theme, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life – in Hot Springs, Arkansas,’ was well received and well presented by all of the entries,” said Lee Richardson, parade coordinator. Parade judges were David Watkins, city manager; Brian Leonard, Visit Hot Springs; and Heather Gilham, Hot Springs Sentinel-Record. The announcer was Trent Foreman, RICO Regional Sales Manager. The parade was videotaped by students from the Hot Springs High School EAST program. The parade rebroadcast schedule will be released at a later date.
The Grand Marshal was veteran Oaklawn track announcer Terry Wallace. Parade co-sponsors included Summit Bank, Skip Holland and Brooke Dodd of Edward Jones Investments, Steamatic of Hot Springs, Sanders Plumbing, America’s Best Value Inn, Candlewood Suites and Garland County Title Company, with support from the City of Hot Springs.
