[ARCHIVED] HSPD Community Awareness Advisory

Hot Springs Police Department Advisory: On two separate occasions recently a 30-50 yr. old white male wearing a yellow reflective vest and cap or visor has approached the home of an elderly resident visor posing as “utility worker” of some type. On both occasions the worker told the resident that a fiber optic line was to be buried across their back yard and asked to inspect the construction area. While the resident was distracted in the back yard with the worker a second unknown accomplice entered and burglarized the residence. Anyone suspicious of a utility worker should request to see the worker's company photo ID and if the worker cannot verify their authority with an ID the resident should immediately report the incident to 911.

UPDATE: On 12/18/14 one resident reported seeing a suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of Ridgeview that may be involved. The vehicle is described as a mid-sized white cargo truck with approx 20’ cargo box, single cab, no license on the rear of the truck, yellow license plate on the front. The truck has an old company logo of some kind on the passenger door that had been poorly painted over and damage to the cargo area between the cab and the rear axle, near the bottom of the cargo area. The truck was occupied by a black male and a white male, both in their 20's wearing high visibility vests. The resident asked the black male if they were with sanitation and replied "No" and offered no other information about their business.
