The Hot Springs Police Department has issued the following update on the ongoing efforts to contain approximately six buffalo that escaped this morning from a local farm located near Shady Grove Road:
Authorities from the Hot Springs Police Department, Hot Springs Animal Services and Garland County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol, along with the owners and handlers of the buffalo, are currently awaiting the arrival of additional resources, including tranquilizer darts. Approximately five buffalo are currently located in a wooded area near the Malvern Avenue/Bellaire Drive area. The sixth buffalo was hit in early morning by a vehicle, but its injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. The vehicle was towed from the scene of the accident; however, the driver of the vehicle walked away. The injured buffalo is currently secured in a large trailer. The public’s continued vigilance is requested until all the animals are secured.
