A boil order is now in effect for residents and businesses on the following streets: North Crystal Springs Road, Dogget Drive, Crystal Place, Cordell Drive, Cordell Terrace, Dudley Circle, Kelso Lane, Cordell Trail, Cordell Court, Hickory Nut Mountain Road, Crystal Campground Road and Safari Way. The order was issued following a water main which was washed away due to flooding during last night’s heavy rainfall.
Residents in the affected area are advised that the water may be unsafe for human consumption due to the possibility that contaminated water may have entered the distribution system. Water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.
The boil order will be lifted by the Department of Health when one set of bacteriological samples indicate that the water is free of bacterial contamination and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system. For information, call 321-6200.
