Now that water tanks have reached normal levels at the city’s Ouachita Water Treatment Plant, the voluntary water conservation request of Hot Springs Municipal Utilities customers has been lifted.
The plant suffered a power outage in addition to a lightning strike to the generator that provides backup power during Monday night’s stormy weather. Entergy crews prioritized the restoration of electricity, and a generator was located in Memphis. “While water conservation is always a good practice, the crisis period is over,” said City Manager David Watkins. “Our thanks to all the residents and businesses that curtailed water use and helped restore the plant quickly to full production capacity.”
