Interim City Manager Bill Burrough has been appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson to serve as a member of the State Marketing Board for Recyclables, for a term expiring July 31, 2019.
Burrough, who served for 10 years as the city’s Sanitation Director for 10 years, is also past chair of the Southwest Central Regional Solid Waste Management Board’s Recycling Advisory Committee, past president of the Arkansas chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America, and past president of Trash Bash, an annual community-wide lake cleanup event. He was appointed interim city manager in August after serving as deputy city manager since September 2012.
The mission of the five-member State Marketing Board for Recyclables is to promote community-based, statewide economic development by providing information to the private sector that encourages the development of long-term markets for recycled materials. The board works with existing industry to encourage the use of recyclables in their manufacturing processes and recruiting new industries that use recyclables. It also sponsors the Arkansas Recycling Markets Directory, which lists facilities and the recyclables they accept. For more information, visit http://www.arkansasrecycles.org .
